Connectors, Interconnects

Components within electrical networks that allow circuits to be either connected or disconnected.

Traditionally, connectors, have male and female versions, where the male is generally called a plug, and the female a socket. Connections maybe assembled and terminated by hand or require tools or even machinery. The connection made could also serve as a permanent electric joint between the two points. Range of connectors are in the millions, with innumerable variations and permutations in configurations, such as their application (such industrial, medical, automotive, consumer etc.), transmission (such as power, data or audio-visual), and specifications/attributes (such as number of pins, mating cycles, pitch, angle of mounting, etc.)
